DNS over TLS (DoT)

DoT encrypts DNS queries over a TLS connection, often used as ‘Private DNS’ on Android. If you travel often, this term becomes especially important because airports, hotels, and cafes are common interception points. For most people, the biggest privacy win is shielding activity from local network observers and reducing ISP-level profiling. If you’re tuning for speed, test different protocols and nearby servers at the same time of day to account for congestion. VPN Surf and Elite VPN guidance aims to keep the concept actionable, not just theoretical.
